It’s Zippy Tip Tuesday!
My friend Sandy and I used to go to an apple orchard up in Michigan every fall to pick apples. A gruff old guy owned the place. And when you pulled in, he grunted out the usual rundown of all the different types of apples he had, as well as their location. All I can say is that it’s a good thing there weren’t any video surveillance cameras on the premises. And I mention that for 2 reasons:
1. More apples went into our bellies than we care to admit.
2. Invariably, the best apples were out of our reach, and I’m sure it was a real hoot watching us attempt to climb up to the higher branches to retrieve them.
But eventually, we filled the bags that we brought and took them up to show Mr. Personality Plus, who eyeballed the whole of our harvest and charged us a ridiculously low price.
So I thought it’d be fun to give my own rundown of 7 apple varieties (one for every day of the week), by describing their color, texture, flavor and use. For information on the other 7,493 kinds of apples (more or less), visit Orange Pippin: The comprehensive resource for apples and orchards.
What’s your favorite kind of apple?

Mom always said it is nice to share!
Coming over from the Koenig’s Link Party to learn more about apples! Great post.
What a great idea to give information on all of the different apples. Almost all of my life I have been allergic to apples but my kids and husband are not so I still buy apples but I have no idea if the ones I am picking are any good or not! Great information. Stopping by from Food on Friday.

love it! One of my favorite memories is going to an Apple Orchard for a first grade field trip. We got to pick apples, taste them, and learn more about the different varieties. We don’t live close to any orchards anymore, and it’s so sad 🙁
Thanks for sharing on Foodie Friday
Sherry I love your videos sooo much. An apple a day the jazzy gourmet way! Hubby loves the fuji, I like the tartness of the granny and of course, as you mention perfect for cooking. Thank you for joining in the fun at the Thursday Favorite Things hop xo
Thanks for sharing about apples Sherry. I never know which are good for cooking and usually stick to Granny Smith or Macs for that. It’s great to see that there are other varieties that hold up well, when cooking. Thanks for sharing at Simple Supper Tuesday.
Thanks for the info. Very needful. Linda
