Well, I’m still a bit under the weather this week, so I thought it would be a good opportunity to pull out another video from the archives. This time though, I’m posting a video from my Gadget Goldmine series that features the adjustable measuring cup.
I’m not sure there’s a measuring tool that gets more use (other than my Adjustable Measuring Spoons) than my adjustable measuring cup. The particular brand I have is Pampered Chef, but I’ve seen them in kitchen specialty stores by other brands as well. It is so nice, because it measures both liquid and solid foods. In total, it holds a maximum of 2 cups on down to 2 tablespoons. Admittedly, I don’t use the liquid option much (which is probably why I didn’t show it in the video), but I LOVE measuring solid foods, such as peanut butter, mayo, sour cream etc. And even though they may technically be liquids, it does well with honey, molasses and other syrup as well.
It drives me nuts trying to dig out out every last tidbit from the bottom of a conventional measuring cup. And I know what you’re probably thinking–let it go, Sherry! But I can’t.
Ya see, years ago when my grandma let me help her in the kitchen, she made me scrape the dickens out of measuring cups. Heck, she even had me run my finger along the inside of an egg shell to make sure I had gotten out all of the white! So I guess her frugalness got instilled in my brain somehow and THAT’s why I love this measuring cup. I just put the food in the cup, press the plunger, and yippy skippy, clean as a whistle! No guilt, no waste, and no thoughts of Grandma looking down from above disapprovingly.
OK, so that’s enough rambling from my Advil Cold & Sinus stupor again. Time to climb back onto the couch and finish the finale of Top Chef. I know you probably already watched it, which gives you time to run out and get an adjustable measuring cup, ha!
