Bagel Chips

It’s Zippy Tip Tuesday!

One day last week, my S.O. (Significant Other) brought home some bagels from work that had been setting out all day.  My first thought was, why do people leave out baked goods all day to allow them to get stale!?  My second thought was, what am I going to do with these unappealing stale bagels?  So I decided to make bagel chips.
I started by making thin slices out of the bagels.  I placed the slices on a parchment-lined cookie sheet, drizzled them with some olive oil, sprinkled some kosher salt and herbs (such as basil, parsley, oregano), and baked them in a 350 degree oven for about 10 minutes, or until golden brown.  I think some parmesan cheese would be good too.  I’ll have to try that next time.  They can serve as a fine vessel for dips, hummus and tapenades, but they’re pretty darned delicious right off the plate!
What would you add to your bagel chips?
